Italia in default?

ITA

(30-01-2009) - A clear message from the blog http://www.berninger.de of Joern Berninger:
"I believe the largest issue is Italy. Greece, Ireland and Spain have to default or cause 25-50% inflation, paid by the Germans. As the Eurozone and Russia together could create an autark unit, it would not mean prices would increase dramatic, so the effects would be limited to other currencies, but still buy you a toaster and butter and bread. This does not hold true for the UK."
This isn't the unique negative message of Joern about Italy. Also many others commentators of the blog foresee the Italian default. The first cause is the public debt. The IMF foresees a strong negative growth in the next 2 years: 2009 and 2010. The GDP in 2009, according to the IMF, will be -2.1.
Time will tell!

  • maggiori rimborsi fiscali (decreto legge n. 185/2008)
  • anticipazione a favore delle Regioni per l’estinzione dei debiti sanitari pregressi, per effetto della legge finanziaria 2008;
  • Commissione Europea: PIL piatto;
  • Ocse: PIL -1,0;
  • Confindustria: PIL -1,3%;
  • Governo Italiano: PIL +0,5;
Staremo a vedere.

EN
(03/01/2009)-According to Tremonti, Italy has done better in the economy then other countries. The data aren't final but are in line with the GDP to 2.6% (had been scheduled 2.5%). Christmas sales, according to the Confcommercio, are in line with sales of 2007.
On the prospects of the crisis in 2009 Tremonti says: "... I have no fears for the Italian economy, is the economy of the world which has to be adjusted. ... The Italian economy is more old-fashioned: if fall from the window on the first floor maybe you do not do evil, but if you fall from the fourth floor, as happens to others, it is easier than you do evil. But 2009 is a new year and we have to go inside with the greatest possible hope. ... The machinery of the World economy - added the minister - has been planted and should be adjusted or put on a different path. We say that the Italian machines are planting less and adjust better. I think - concluded Tremonti - out of Italy the things and are not better than in Italy: The problems are not inside Italy. ... We have moved liquidity, leaving it in the pockets of families and in the cash of companies. "
Between Government and opposition begins to be "shared" on measures to tackle the crisis. Tremonti says, "less disputes, is better."
The state sector in 2008 absorbed 52.9 billion from 29.5 billion marked the end of 2007. It seems that the Government has not planned! The government was expecting a range of between 44 and 46 billion. The needs for the entire 2007 set in January last year was around 27 billion euros.
According to Tremonti is the reason for this increase:
  • negative economic cycle
  • liquidity in the system
  • reducing the percentage of second advance IRES and IRAP
  • mitigation of the tax wedge
  • ICI exemption for first home
  • the loss of overtime pay from Fintecna
  • more tax rebates (Decree Law No. 185/2008)
  • anticipation for the Regions for the extinction of debts healthcare liabilities, the effect of the Finance Act 2008;
  • more withdrawals from the state treasury by the local government
  • renew contact for the public use
  • Cash payment to deposits and loans
  • more interest on public debt
The war of Italian GDP figures for 2009:
  • European Commission: GDP unchanged;
  • OECD: GDP -1.0;
  • Confindustria: GDP -1.3%;
  • Italian Government: GDP +0.5;
We shall see.
